Mr. Winfred Ted Newsome was born May 5, 1932 in Pittsburg, Texas to Carlton W. Newsome and Jabie Heath Newsome and passed away at the age of 90 on October 12, 2022 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
He was in the United States Air Force where he served his country for 21 years as a KC135 pilot. He was a member for the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, was a former City Manager for the City of Pittsburg, and was a board member at the Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum where he spent countless hours volunteering his time and skills.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Patsy Newsome of Pittsburg; son, David Newsome and his wife, Robin of Pittsburg; and daughter, Dawn Harrell and her husband, Richard of Littleton, Co.; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Edwin Newsome; and sisters, Olyarie Drummond and Janette McClung
Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Leesburg Cemetery with military honors. There will be a visitation with the family between 5:00 -7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Services will be officiated by Reverend Jeff Dungan and pallbearers will be Carl Cravey, Steve Garrett, Roy Newsome, Tim Nicholson, David Abernathy, Mark McEnturf, and Giancarlo Newsome.
Family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Northeast Rural Heritage Museum or the First United Methodist Church.
