Funeral services for Virginia Ruth Bynum, age 82, of Dallas (formerly of Pittsburg), will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Cates officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Mrs. Bynum passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Mt. Pleasant nursing home surrounded by her family.
Pallbearers will be Sean Powell, Corey Powell, Wyatt Bynum, Keith McNeil, Billy House and Tracy Wadsworth.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2025, in the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Bynum was born on December 23, 1942, in Mt. Vernon to Jonas Sikes and Nila Whittiker Blackmon. She retired from Texas Instruments after 35 years and traveled with family and friends. She loved Square Dancing, making quilts and enjoyed watching her flowers in the front yard. Most of all, she enjoyed being around her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanna Duevel and Tracy Wadsworth of Whitewright; daughter-in-law, Sherri Riddle Bynum of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Sean Powell, Corey Powell, and his wife Chanel, Nicholas Bynum, and his wife Holly, Wyatt Bynum, and his wife Amanda; great-grandchildren, Natalie Powell, Kenzie Powell and Connor Powell; along with extended family and friends.
Mrs. Bynum is preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Johnnie Bynum Sr., and her son, Johnnie Bynum Jr.
