Terry & Jane Simpson

A private memorial service for Terry Van Simpson, 68, and Jane Simpson, 69, both of Scroggins, will be held at a later date.  Mr. Simpson passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, at their residence.  Mrs. Simpson passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at their residence.

Mr. Simpson was born October 30, 1954, in Longview to James Newton and Era Fay Moss Simpson.  Mrs. Simpson was born September 30, 1953, in Abilene to Hugh Hamilton and Jacqueline Marie Moody Welch.

Terry retired from construction specializing in laying flooring. He graduated from Pittsburg High School, and liked hunting, kayaking, and camping. Terry and Jane enjoyed supporting all veterans.

Terry and Jane were married for 18 years.

Jane grew up in Granbury. She attended both Tarleton University and University of Texas, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree.  Jane retired from Mt. Pleasant ISD where she enjoyed coaching softball and volleyball while teaching.  She also loved hunting, kayaking, snow skiing and camping.  A member of the Episcopal faith.  She was previously married to Jack Palmer.

Terry is survived by his sister, Reginia Russell; brother-in-law, Clifton Russell of Atlanta; niece, Jodi Richardson and her children and grandchildren of Pittsburg.

Jane is survived by one sister.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Joyce and husband, Mike Richardson, and brother, James Wayne Simpson.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Simpson, and parents.

No formal visitation is scheduled.
