Sandra Marie (Sherrod) McCurry

Mrs. Sandra Marie McCurry, age 87, of Pittsburg, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025 with her family by her side in Mt. Pleasant. She was born December 21, 1937 to Paul and Irene Willard Sherrod in Lubbock, Texas.

Sandra went to school at Abilene Christian College. There she got her degree in Art which gave her a career of teaching Art at several school districts in Texas, including, Abilene ISD; LD Bell in Hurst;  Pittsburg ISD and NTCC after moving to Lake Bob Sandlin, as well as teaching adult classes in her studio she had in her home. She enjoyed painting and doing clay sculptures the most and has some of her Art on display at the Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum in Pittsburg.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, John Michael McCurry; son, Kent Conner; adopted son, Corey McCurry; and her sister, Winnie Williams.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Paul and Irene Willard Sherrod; and her son, Von Conner; adopted daughter, Julia McCurry; and her sister, Elaine.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday January 14, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. William Laud Episcopal Church in Pittsburg with Rev. Ethel Channon officiating.
