Ruby Faye Pilgrim Kilburn, age 90, was born on March 25, 1932, to Bobby Nox Pilgrim and Beulah Olivette Keadle, in Pittsburg, TX. She passed away August 12, 2022.
On April 15, 1947, Ruby married her first love, Henry Edward Alsobrook and from that marriage two children were born, Bobby Edward Alsobrook and Shirley Faye Alsobrook. Henry died in 1957, leaving Ruby to care for her children alone. As a single mother, Ruby stepped right up to the plate and batted two home runs. Her children were her pride and joy.
Eventually, Ruby married Merel Clint Steed on May 21, 1961. Clint passed away in 1977. On September 21, 1979, Ruby married Clarence Wilson Kilburn. He passed away in 1995.
During this time, Ruby worked as a nurse in Pittsburg for over 50 years. She started as a surgical nurse at M&S Hospital, and later she became nurse for Dr. James Coldsnow, Dr. Shaunna Mitchell, then Dr. Manuel Guerra.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and by her two brothers, Loyd Franklin “Jack” Pilgrim, and J.C. “Pete” Pilgrim and two sisters, Gladys Ruth Alsobrook and Mary Olive Vick.
Surviving her is her son, Bobby Alsobrook and wife, Rosalyn of Longview, and daughter, Shirley Knight and husband, Steve of Pittsburg. Also surviving her are five grandsons, Andrew Alsobrook, Eric Clifton, Craig Clifton, Jeff Clifton, and Anthony Alsobrook, as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday August 14, 2022, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
