Robert “Bob” Gene Crain, 77, of Pittsburg was born May 5, 1946, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Edward Robertson Crain and Mary Virginia Farley Crain. He passed away on October 5, 2023.
Mr. Crain graduated high school and then furthered his education by attending Machinery Repairman School and Railroad Engineering School in Shreveport, Louisiana. He also served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg and a very active member of the Gideons in Mt. Pleasant and Camp County. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, but above all, spending time with his family and those he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Knight Crain of Pittsburg; daughter and son-in-law, Julie Crain Jordan and David Jordan; grandchildren, Dillon Scott Jordan and his wife Randal of Whitehouse and David Ty Jordan and his wife Lani of Pittsburg; great grandchildren, Evie Mae Jordan and Margot Jordan; sister, Betty Crain of Pittsburg; sister-in-law, Lisa Crain of Pittsburg; his constant companion, Toro; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert Scott Crain, and brother, Charles “Charlie” Edward Crain.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Bro. Joel Davis and Harold Kennington will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be George French, Tommy Fink, Larry Copeland, Jim Waggoner, Cary John Efurd, Johnny French, Joey French, and Billy Taylor.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 97251 Washington, DC 20090-7251 and the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg.
