Obituary

Philip Lee Gerig, 74, of Pittsburg, Texas, passed away on July 21, 2023. He was born on September 25, 1948, in Hicksville, Ohio, to Keith Lavon Gerig and Bernida Brackney Gerig.

Philip received his bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Texas Tech University. In his professional life, Philip had a successful career as the Director of Hatcheries at Pilgrim's Pride Corporation, where he retired after 33 years. His dedication and hard work were recognized and respected by his colleagues.

Philip was a beloved husband, father, and brother, and he will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rhonda Kay Grice Gerig; sons, Wesley Lee Gerig and wife, Patricia, of Trenton, Texas, and Nathan Wade Gerig and wife, Detria, of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Samantha Gerig Dobbie and husband, Alex, Haley Gerig, Tori Gerig, and Tyler Gerig and wife, Jessica; great-grandchildren, Kody Gerig and Jay’lynn Clay; and brother, Bruce Gerig and wife, Dickie, of Sherman, Texas.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents.

The loss of Philip Lee Gerig leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His memory will be cherished, and his legacy will live on through the love and memories shared by his family and friends.
