Orfelinda Avilez, 80, of Cason and formerly of Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on June 28, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Cason, Texas. She was born on June 24, 1943 to Oscar and Maria Santos (Tamez) de Ochoa. Orfelinda was a hard worker who loved her family very much. She was a religious woman and attended the Baptist church for worship.
In her free time, Orfelinda enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Casa Cerado. She had a green thumb and loved gardening. She found joy in spending time with her family and collecting various items. Orfelinda lived life to the fullest, cherishing every moment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Maria Santos de Ochoa, daughters Maria Del Carmen Cano and Maria Estella Cano, brothers Carlos and Goradla Ochoa, and husbands Isidoro Cano and Ezekiel Aviles.
Orfelinda is survived by her son Nicolas Cano, daughters Mary Lawrence (William), Carmen Olan (Carlos), sisters Soyla Villanueva (Greg) and MaDolores Argelia. Grandchildren Carlos Bando Jr., Nicolas Cano Jr., Jenny Marie Alvez, Flow Cano, Steven Cano, and Lucas Isidoro Cano. There are also 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and her dog Baby. Loving friends Paula Cisneros and Brandi Jones. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service to celebrate Orfelinda's life will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Frontier Cowboy Church in Ewell with Brother J.N. Metcalf officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 AM at the church until start of service. Burial to follow service at Crossroads Cemetery.
