Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Camp County. Arrangements will be under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. McNutt passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at her residence after nearly four (4) years of demonstrating her true fighting spirit battling cancer.
Though Nancy was tiny in stature, her personality was larger than life. Those around her commonly referred to her as “Lil Bit”, “Nancy Bell”, “Nancy June”, “Mamacita”, “Aunt Nancy”, “Mamaw” or “GiGi”. Some of her best times were late nights playing pool in the living room with her family, cutting pulpwood with her husband, Kenny, during the hard times in the early 80’s, quilting or sewing what would be considered near perfect beautiful gifts and mementos for friends and family, decorating some of the most intricate cakes for birthdays and weddings, taking breathtaking still-life photos, and hosting family Christmas where she always had a gift-filled stocking ready for everyone, no matter how old they were or if it was their first time at a family gathering.
Anyone who knew Nancy would say she was a country girl, through and through. While she grew up in Jacinto City outside of Houston, when she met her husband Kenny, a local to Pittsburg, Texas, she knew the country life of Northeast Texas was for her. Nancy and Kenny raised their family in Leesburg and Pittsburg. With two small children still at home, Nancy was determined to go back to school and earn not only a GED, but also her degree in Accounting at Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC). Over the years, Nancy worked at Chapel Hill School as well as in the athletics and housing departments at NTCC, where she retired in 2010.
At “4’11-3/4 inches tall with her (cowboy) boots on”, Nancy will always be remembered for her short legs, big heart and for being as “tough as boot leather”.
