Mollye Taggart Lunsford

Memorial service for Mollye Sue Taggart Lunsford, 75, of Pittsburg, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jeff Dungan officiating.  She passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in a Tyler hospice.

Mrs. Lunsford was born, February 23, 1949, in Greenville, TX to William Jennings Bryan and Anna Pearl McConnell Taggart.  Mollye was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg, a member of the Second Mile Sunday School class.

At the age of nine years old, Mollye moved to East Dallas with her parents.  After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, in Dallas, she attended Kilgore College.  She went on to work for Southwestern Bell/ATT and retired with almost thirty-three years of dedicated and loyal service.  After her retirement from ATT, she relocated to Pittsburg, and later found her true calling in life by working as a Teacher Aide at the Head Start School (Pre-K) in Pittsburg.  At the age of fifty-nine, she obtained her Child Development Associate Certification from Texarkana College.  After working at the Head Start School for three and one-half years, she became a Substitute Teacher in the Pittsburg ISD.  She enjoyed working with the younger children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Randy L. Lunsford, and her oldest sister, Carole T. Balch.

Mollye is survived by her sister, Patricia and husband, Larry Munro; nephew Bryan Christopher Balch; niece, Allison Blach Jordan; nephews, Michael Munro, Bret Munro, Brandon Munro; niece, Meredith Garcia; and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
