Maurita Jewel (Nelson) Balmain
March 22, 1928 – February 26, 2024
Maurita Balmain, 95, has gone home to be with her Savior. She was a wonderful person who was deeply loved by her family. She cherished her many friends and lived a life of serving others. Maurita loved to cook and was happiest when making delicious meals for dinner guests. The Balmain home was always a place of warmth and welcome.
Maurita met the love of her life, LeRoy, in high school, and throughout the years of their marriage they enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, and socializing with family and friends. She loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. That love of family was instilled in her as a child. Her parents, Clifton and Evie Nelson, made sure that she was taught a deep love of family. She and her brother, Hubert, had many wonderful times with all of the nieces, nephews, and cousins at their numerous family reunions.
Time in prayer and the scripture was an integral part of Maurita’s life. When her home was cleared out, notebooks were found that were full of her prayers and her thoughts as she studied the Bible. It was obvious that she found peace and comfort when she prayed and read God’s Word.
Maurita will be missed by her children, Gary and wife Cindy and Debbie and husband Gary; grandchildren, Clint and wife Jenn, David and wife Taylor, Kristin and husband Judson, and Kara Lynn; as well as her great-grandchildren Jessica, Evan, Audrey, Wyatt, and Grace.
