Marcia Jean (Leonard) Barrett

Marcia Jean Leonard Barrett, 70 years old, of Pittsburg, Texas went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2022.  She was born September 15, 1951 in Bellevue, Ohio to Jean (Drexel) Leonard and Ralph N. Leonard Jr.  Marcia married Sam Barrett on August 3, 1973.  Sam was Marcia’s true love for life.  Marcia is survived by: Husband, Sam Barrett, Sister Melissa and Brother-In-Law Michael Hendler, Brother-In-Law, Frederick and Sister-In-Law Renell Barrett, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews

Marcia graduated from Bellevue Senior High School in 1969.  She continued her education by earning a Bachelors in Kinesiology from Eastern Michigan University, a Masters of Education (Kinesiology and Special Education) from The University of Texas-then Pan American University and a Doctorate of Psychology from U of M Missouri-then Neotarianum College of Philosophy.  Marcia worked in TX Education until retirement.  She was a Teaching Specialist for The University of Texas System and a Field Professor for the Lower Rio Grand Valley Public School Districts. 

Marcia loved swimming especially in Lake Erie.  She taught over 50 years of American Red Cross Swimming and related courses.  Marcia and Sam often swam and taught together.  “Cardthartic” wrote “on, in, or by the water. . . . . .   and you’ll be all smiles.”  -that was Marcia.

Most importantly, Marcia was a woman of faith.  She loved our Lord Jesus Christ using “The Love Beyond Human Understanding” as her guide.
