Lucy Mae (Barnett) Weeks

Lucy Mae Barnett Weeks, age 94, of Leesburg, passed away peacefully at her residence with family by her side, on Monday, June 8, 2026. She was born October 18, 1931 to Jasper Wilson Barnett and Mamie Jane Miller Barnett in Belzonia, Mississippi.

She dedicated more than 60 years of service to Brookshire's, where she worked as a checker and became a familiar and friendly face to countless customers and coworkers before her retirement. She was a lifetime member of Leesburg Baptist Church. She was a member of The Garden Club where she was awarded yard of the month. She enjoyed traveling with her coworkers, fishing along with eating the fish, watching the hummingbirds, and listening to wind chimes. She was a wonderful seamstress, loved smiley faces, and LOVED HER KITTY KITTY.

On January 1, 1953, she married the love of her life, W. Jay Weeks. Their marriage was one of devotion and partnership until his passing on August 3, 2003.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Jasper and Mamie Barnett; along with her siblings, Johnnie Barnett, June Barnett, Paul Barnett, Bobby Barnett, Jasper Bartnett, Bobbie Nell Barnett, and Rosalee Barnett Woodcock.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jackie Weeks Garsee and husband Robert, Larry Weeks, Perry Weeks and wife, Annette; grandchildren, Chris Knight and wife Michelle, Brandi Strode and husband Seth, Cassie Weeks, Alexandria Rojas and husband Ulyssis, and John Alexander and wife Kara; great-grandchildren, Blake Knight and wife Emma, Brantlee and Prestin Carter, Nolan Rojas, and Wyatt Alexander; great-great-grandchildren, Westlyn and Cannon Knight; sisters, Ruby Nell Moore, Emma Lou Howell Prescott; brother, Herbert Barnett; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 15, 2026 at the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg with Bro. Kyle Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg. Pallbearers will be, Todd Diviney, John Alexander, Chris Knight, Blake Knight, Brantlee Carter, and Prestin Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Cassie Weeks, Alexandria Rojas, and Greg Weeks. There will be a visitation held before the service beginning at 12:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
