Kenneth "Ken" George Sorge

Mr. Kenneth “Ken” George Sorge, age 74, of Big Sandy passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, in Tyler. He was born June 18, 1949, to Clermon George Sorge and Ruth Harris Sorge in Midland, Texas.

He served in the United States Army, was a retired band director, and was a member of Holly Brook Baptist Church in Hawkins. He was also an active member of the Singing Men of North Central Texas and the Singing Men of East Texas.

He is survived by his children, Curtis Short and wife Janelle, Teresa Smith and husband Chaffin, Gary Short and wife Heather, Tony Sorge and wife Stacey,  Kathy Hearn and husband Brent; sister Connie Melton, and step sister, Mary Graves; grandchildren, Maija Stewart, Jeremey Burke, Leah Short, Lauren Wilson, Dylan Wilson, Hannah Jenkins, Garrett Wilson, Kayden Smith, Brianna Schmidt, Destiny Rubalcava, Garyn Short, Jonathan Griffin, Mirna Negovetic, Jaime Frank, Brittany Frank, Jordan Sorge, Triston Hearn, and Grayson Hearn, great-grandchildren, Colton George, Bella George, Wyatt George, Clara Burke, Cooper Burke, Copelyn Carey, LaKynn Carey, Parker Carey, Weston Wiest, Jaxson Weist, Beckam Jenkins, Brinley Jenkins, Breelyn Jenkins, Chandler Schmidt, Dionisio Rubalcava, Amari Davis, and Carter Hearn.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 46 years, Gwen Sorge.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Holly Brook Baptist Church in Hawkins, Texas, with Bro. David LeFlore officiating.
