Katherine (Woodard) Cates

Funeral services for Katherine Cates, 92, of Pittsburg will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Kyle Smith officiating.  Interment will be in the Monticello Cemetery in Titus County.  Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home.  Mrs. Cates passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, in a Tyler Hospice.

Mrs. Cates was born December 3, 1929, in Stratford, Texas to William Eddie and Gertrude Lavake Woodard.  She was a homemaker and a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 65 years.

She is survived by sons, Charles Cates and wife, Tasey of Pittsburg, Larry Cates and wife, Brenda of Sanger, and Barry Cates of Longview; grandchildren, Wade Cates and wife, Maria, Cassana Herring and husband, Ryan, and Chelsea Lee and husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Braxton, Camila, Kyler, Elijah, Emma, Ezra, and Truitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cates is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie N. Cates; parents; and brother Bill Woodard.

Pallbearers will be Wade Cates, Ryan Herring, Justin Lee, Larry Young, Bill Carlile, and Carl Woodard.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
