Joyce "Fanny" Lorraine Hively, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 9th, 2024. She was a beloved mother, "Big Mama", and a friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Joyce Lorraine Wright was born on July 8th, 1941 in Boone, Colorado on the family farm.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, sitting on her front porch, watching her favorite TV shows and sports, and around the dining room table filled with wine and great food. She was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges anyone faced. She never met a stranger, the front porch was always open, and food and wine were available at any hour.
Fanny is survived by her children, Steven Carroll Caddel (Jane) of Peyton, CO and Richard Todd Caddel (Kathy) of Terrell, TX, and her grandchildren, Stephanie Laffitte (Daniel) of Quitman, LA, Kyle Penn (Whitney) of Prosper, TX, Athena Genthner (Johnathan) of Colorado Springs, CO, Timothy Caddel of Colorado Springs, CO and Allison Caddel of Pittsburg, TX. Her five great-grandchildren provided her with additional love and happiness - Knox Penn, Brandon Laffitte, Nash Penn, Jinora Genthner, and Kolton Laffitte. She deeply loved her sister-in-law Dorothy Rhea and nieces Cindy Sullivan, Patsy Tompkins, Marilyn Christiansen, Melinda Rusher, Kelli Jo Brubaker, and Carolyn Watson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacky Lewis Hively, and her parents, Dhu and Ressa Wright, and six siblings.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. She was known for her infamous Thanksgiving Eve parties, fun times, Mardi Gras, trips to New Orleans with her traveling group of Ken Davis, Waylan Taber, Eve Pilgrim, Katrina Smith, Linda Douglas, and Mary Ducos, and dinner parties with other close friends William Bo Davis, Carolyn Franks, David Zimmerman, Aaron Dudley, and Esperanza Eppie Lackey. She had a gift of making everyone feel important and making friends everywhere she went. Spending time with good friends and family and enjoying the fun times in life was the most important part of her life- and made her life the special celebration it was. Her best friend in the world was her granddaughter Allison Caddel, who was not only her roommate and caretaker but also her confidante and treasured individual.
A service will be held Sunday, December 15th at 1:00 pm at St. William Laud Episcopal Church in Pittsburg, Texas. A follow-up celebration of life will be held at Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards immediately afterward. Fanny's wishes were to come, wear color, sing loud, & celebrate.
A register book will be available for the community to sign Thursday, December 12th and Friday December 13th between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at Erman Smith Funeral Home
