Obituary
Graveside services for Jerry W. Hicks, 84, of Leesburg, will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2023, at New Mine Cemetery with Bro. Tim Parker, officiating. Interment will be in New Mine Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Hicks passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, in a Winnsboro nursing home.
Mr. Hicks was born April 22, 1939, in Paris to Charlie and O’Neata Baze Hicks. He was a retired Oilfield worker and a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his sons, James D. Hicks, Johnnie Hicks, and Lonnie Hicks; daughters, Julie Thrapp, and Christy Cagle; 16 – grandchildren, 27 – great-grandchildren, and seven – great-great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Hicks, and Robert Hicks; sisters, Charlene Jones, and Sue Carr.
Mr. Hicks is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Ann) Hicks; parents, Charlie and O’Neata Hicks; and son, Donald Hicks; brothers, O’Neal and Jimmy; sisters, Lorene and Martha.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Thrapp, Joseph Hicks, Cody Cagle, Sean Thrapp, Charles Hicks, and Steve Hicks.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2023, at Erman Smith Funeral Home.
