James Rondal Burns, 83, of Pittsburg, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025. Mr. Burns was born on April 1, 1941, in Pittsburg, Texas to Oscar & Mary Sue Laney Burns.
He was a graduate of Pittsburg High School in 1960. He was a business owner and a prominent member of the Thoroughbred Racehorse Association. He also served for 3 years in the 49th Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Burns whom he married on July 3, 1992, in Hugo, Oklahoma; and children, Kim Pilgrim (Mark), Kendal Burns (BuLinda), Kyle Burns (Tina), Dwaina Kerr (Dave), David McClure (Terri), and Daniel McClure (Niki). Grandchildren: Clayton, Blevin, Bryce, Kole, Taylor, Brittany, Reid, Logan, Jessica, Garrett, Cristy, Drew, Adam, Emily, Ian, Morgan, and Cade. Great grandchildren: Caroline, Wyatt, Brayson, Braylee, Ashton, Beckham, Ainsley, Emerson, Beaux, Lawson, Rory, and Parker. He is also survived by brothers and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Erman Smith Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Harold Kennington officiating, interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Camp County. Those serving as pallbearers will be Sam David Jr., Rex Tillery, Butch Bradshaw, Jamie Salmone, David Burns, and Keith Burns. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Burns and Mike Derrick. There will be a visitation held Friday February 7, 2025, at 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Erman Smith Funeral Home.
