Jackie LaRue English, 61, of Pittsburg, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held in Texas this spring and a memorial will be held on the Kenai River in the coming summer.
Mrs. English was born January 22, 1962, in Lexington, KY, to Henry Young “Jack” and Maddie B. Dawes Johnson. She was a retired instrument technician on the Alaska North Slope oil fields. Her lifelong passion was fishing the great Kenai River in Alaska. She holds two IGFA line class records for King Salmon caught in the river.
Mrs. English is survived by her husband, John Howard English; daughter, Megan English; sister, Sally Poe; as well as the many dear friends she made while operating a fishing lodge in Alaska.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Young “Jack” and Maddie B. Johnson.
