J.G. Avent

Mr. J.G. Avent, age 93, of Pittsburg, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in Tyler. He was born June 27, 1927 to John Robert and Lucille Hooper Avent in Fame, Mississippi.

He served in the United States Army during WWII, was retired from Lone Star Steel and was a charter member of the Pittsburg Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Allene Avent; children, Linda Bostic and husband Art; Ann Crawford and husband J. Darryl; Rick Avent and wife Marshelle; and Alicia Dotson and husband Russell; grandchildren, Jared Bostic; Heidi Harmon and husband Justin and their children, Milla and Henry; Ryan Dotson and wife Jennifer and their son, Ryker; Kristen Dotson and children, MacKenzie and Michael; Hannah Avent; Josh Bostic and wife Sara and their children, Emerson, Arden, Grafton; and Leah Avent; four brothers, and five sisters.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg, with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation held before the service beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
