Horace E. Peek

Mr. Horace E. Peek, age 94, of Pittsburg, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021 in Pittsburg. He was born December 20, 1926 to Melvin Ruel and Mary Elizabeth Kizer Peek in Camp County.

He was a dirt contractor and cattle rancher. He served Camp County as County Commissioner for 16 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved quail hunting in West Texas, and trot lining for catfish on the Sulphur River.  He served in the Navy completing basic training.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Elizabeth Josephine “Jo” Quillin Peek of Pittsburg; sons, Don Peek of Pittsburg, and Roger Peek and wife Gretta of Pittsburg; daughter, Barbara Ann Peek Young and husband Ron of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Lisa Reeder, Kim Vann, Angela Saucier, Amy Kennington, Dustin Peek, Nick Peek, Karli Miller, Kamri Biggerstaff; great-grandchildren, Preston Reeder, Reagan Reeder, Katie Reeder, Allison Vann, Blake Vann, Ty Hammonds, Abby Hammonds, Payton Richardson, Chloe Kennington, Nathan Lyon, Kaiden Peek, Haley Peek, Aubriella Peek, Arianna Peek, Sienna Peek, Huxley Miller, Hagan Miller, Haddie Jo Miller, Hallie Dean Miller, Barrett Biggerstaff, Bennett Biggerstaff; great-great-grandchildren, Kinzler Richardson and Kate Richardson; brother, Weldon Peek and wife Margaret of Pittsburg.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Bob Peek; grandson, Robert Edward Peek; and brothers, Clyde Peek, George Peek, and Louis Peek, a sister, Dorothy Brandon, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Peek.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg with interment to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Pittsburg. Pallbearers will be Danny Howell, Larry Shrum, Frankie King, Ronnie Humphrey, Kyle Nugent, Josh Biggerstaff, and Brian Miller. Honarary Pallbearers are Ron Young and Johnny French. There will be a visitation held from 5:00 P.M till 7:00 P.M. Friday July 23, 2021 at the funeral home.
