James Harvey Avent, age 86, of Pittsburg, Texas passed away on November 18, 2024 at his home with his wife by his side. He was born to John Robert and Lucille Hooper Avent in Mississippi.
Harvey retired after 40 years working in the oil field and for B&B Water Wells. He was a member of The Pittsburg Church of God. He was loved by his church family and many in the community.
Harvey is survived by his wife Tina Avent of five years; stepdaughter, Brianna Riechman and husband Mike; stepson, Austin Luman and wife Avril; step-grandchildren, Rylee, Koda, Mason, and Creedence Reichman and Amelia Luman; siblings, Orvin Avent, Joseph Avent, Joyce Wolfe, Eva Mae Poe, Grace Ellis, June Coleman, and many nieces and nephews.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Elsi Avent, Ethylee Fason, Catherine Ray, Ruby Myers, Jewel Wilson, M.D. Avent, Glenn Avent, J.G. Avent, and Jimmy Avent.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg with private interment to follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Upshur County. There will be a visitation held before the service beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
