Gwendolyn Hardeman Obituary

Gwendolyn Jean Hardeman, our beloved mother and NaNa, went to be with her Lord and Savior January 24, 2024.  She passed peacefully with family and loved ones by her side.

Mrs. Hardeman was born to David Wayne Basham and Audrey Mae Lyons Basham in Pampa Texas on September 7, 1945. She attended Arlington High School and later met the love of her life, Noel Hardeman, during college and was married December 10, 1965.

Jean had many roles during her life: wife, mother, and, her favorite of all, NaNa. Jean lived her days to care for, give freely, and love on anyone who let her. Most importantly, Jean lived each day to serve the lord. She was a living example of having a servant’s heart. Her compassion for others, caregiving, and amazing positive energy exuded her love of a Jesus focused life. In Jean’s later years, she found another way to care for and serve her community at St. William Laud Episcopal Day School as a pre school teacher. Jean worked alongside Katrina Dodson nurturing dozens of precious hearts over the years pouring every ounce of love and care into each child, giving them a strong educational foundation and, especially, a knowledge of Jesus.

Proceeded in death by husband Noel Wayne Hardeman, and Jean is survived by three children and their spouses, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Children: Stephen Eric Hardeman (Claudia) of San Antonio, Kristin Noelle Hardeman of Galveston, Clinton Daniel Hardeman (Dia) of Pittsburg. Grandchildren: Holly Nicole Hemmingsen, Heidi Noelle Hemmingsen, Zachary Noel Hardeman, Victoria Isabel Hardeman, Hayes Coley Hardeman & Harbor Kee Hardeman. Great-Grandchild: Declan.

Memorial services will be held 12:00 pm, Saturday, February 3, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Pittsburg.  There will be a private family committal service at Leesburg Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.

The family welcomes flowers, but if you feel led to make a memorial donation in Jean’s memory, they ask that you donate to the charity of your choice.
