Gerald Blacketer Obituary

The Blacketer Family announces with great sorrow, the Funeral Services for Gerald Don Blacketer, 90, of Pittsburg will begin with a visitation at 10 a.m. with service following at 11 a.m.  on Thursday April 24, 2025 at the First Baptist Church, in  Pittsburg, TX.  Pastor Joel Davis of First Baptist Church Pittsburg will officiate and interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Camp County. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Gerald passed peacefully to the Kingdom of Our Lord on Saturday April 19, 2025 with family by his side.
Gerald was born on May 10, 1934, in Plano, TX to John Harold and Corma Watkins Blacketer. He is proceeded in death by his beloved parents and his brothers, David Cleon and Keith Weldon Blacketer.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Talitha (Davis) Blacketer of Pittsburg, his two sons, Kevin of Houston and  Anne Marie (Leahey), and Brian Blacketer of Pittsburg; granddaughter Bess (Blacketer) Cianciosi of Richmond and Matthew; great-granddaughter Adelina Bess Cianciosi; sister-in-law June (Davis) Carter of Mount Pleasant; nieces Gina Flores of Keller and Claude, Janet Banks of Pittsburg, and Dawn (Blacketer) Moore of Rockdale and, Bruce.  He leaves behind additional extended family, countless friends and Sunday School classmates.
Gerald attended John F. Peeler Elementary and graduated from W. H. Adamson High School Dallas, TX in 1951. He attended Arlington State College and North Texas State College earning a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting in 1955. Gerald entered the US Army in 1956 and spent the majority of his time overseas before being discharged in 1958. Gerald obtained his Certified Public Accountant of Texas in 1967 and he held that license for over 50 years.
Gerald worked in the oil and gas industry with one company for over 34 years before retiring in early 1996. He began working for General American Oil Company in Dallas, TX which was then  acquired by Phillip Petroleum Company in 1983. He remained with Phillips until his retirement, holding various accounting and management positions in Houston and Bartlesville, OK.
Upon retirement, Gerald and Talitha moved to the family farm in Pittsburg, TX. Over the next 29 years, Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family, working on the farm, teaching his beloved Sunday School Class and serving on the boards of the Macedonia Cemetery and Habitat for Humanity of Camp County.   
Gerald loved his Lord. He loved his wife. He loved his family. In that order. He will be missed. We are all thankful he was apart of our lives.
