In Loving Memory
Frances Jean Carlton
1/30/1938 - 4/21/2022
Frances Jean Carlton was born into her earthly, life on January 30, 1938 and is now rejoicing in her eternal life as of April 21, 2022. Jean was born to Leanne and Earl Cheney, Sr. in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
Growing up with 8 siblings she was a natural caregiver and found a sense of fulfillment from being able to help and care for others. Jean then married James Coy Carlton and moved to Texas where they raised their family. Jean’s greatest joy was being a housewife and raising her four children, Mike Moore, Nilene Ship, Holly McGraw and Carolyn Carlton. Jean then gained the name “Granny” from her 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and her 8 great great grandchildren. The name, Granny, then stuck with her and this is what she has been called now for many years by many people. Granny enjoyed most of her life in Pittsburg, Tx where she attended The Church Of God. If she wasn’t singing church hymns, she was singing Folk music and dancing as if she was getting down at the Pickin’ and Grinin’. Granny enjoyed spending her days at Karly’s, the soda fountain, where she had the opportunity to serve the coffee drinkers and talk to everyone. She enjoyed spending her time there because everyone loved the meatloaf and chicken salad sandwiches that were her recipes. If she wasn’t spending time downtown, she was volunteering at the nursing home or being a private caregiver. Even though Granny’s last few years of her life here on earth looked different then what was just explained above, we have no doubt that when she crossed the golden gates she was dancing and rejoicing the renewed life she was given.
Granny is now healed and reunited with her husband Coy and her siblings Brenda Davis, Earlene Jones, Jimmy Cheney, Charlsey McKenna, and Sharon Barton.
