Graveside services for Charles W. Nowlin, Jr., 79, of Athens (formerly of College Station, Tx), will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg with Pastor Darrell Pollard officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Nowlin passed away Monday, June 23, 2025, in an Athens Assisted Living Center.
Mr. Nowlin was born on August 31, 1945, in Vivian, Louisiana, to Charles W. and Marie Parker Nowlin. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1963 and received a B.S. Degree in Agriculture Business from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M – Commerce). He worked as a County Agent in Robstown, Texas. And finished his career as a Landman as a partner in the Company Terra Source. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Franklin, Texas.
Mr. Nowlin is survived by his wife, Leann Nowlin; his daughters Sally Nowlin of Dallas, Texas and Sandy Gross of Kyle, Texas; his three grandchildren, Jenna, Jax, and Maddie; sisters, Charlotte King of Athens and Delores Holubec and husband, Cliff of Athens; and his Aunt Nell Miller of Pittsburg, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and Marie Nowlin; brother-in-law Jimmy King.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Erman Smith Funeral Home.
