Mrs. Carrie Mayrene “Punkin” Loving Reaves, age 77, of Pittsburg, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at her home in Pittsburg surrounded by her family. She was born April 6, 1948 in Pittsburg to Joseph “Joe” and Lilly Laney Loving.
Punkin was a mother and grannie to anyone that walked through her door. She loved everyone and never turned anyone away, she was a caregiver to many, and she prayed for everyone she knew and loved. Her faith was very important to her, she would tell you about her love of God over a cup of coffee at any time day or night. Her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and it was no secret, her words were “If I had known grandkids were this fun, I would have had them first!” Punkin will be missed greatly by her family, but we know that loved ones she had longed to see again met her at the gates of heaven when she got there. Punkin was a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Upshur County.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita Reaves Gentry; grandchildren, Dustin Reaves and wife Natasha, Chase Gentry and wife Cassie, Ashton Nevels Tafoya and husband Bryan, and Taylor Gentry; great grandchildren, Khonlie McNutt, Addilyn McNutt, Carson Tafoya, Scarlett Tafoya, Ella Reaves, Emry Reaves, Evie Reaves, Kyelyn York, Avey Pope and wife Natalie, Amya Saylor, Ashley Saylor and Aria Saylor; brother, Joseph “Joey” Loving and wife Donna; sister, Dorothy Loving Rozell and husband Dale, Lillian “Lynn” Schimshat and husband David, and James Laney and wife Paula; and the father of her children and friend, Horace Wayne Reaves; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Joe and Lilly Loving; son, Michael Wayne Reaves; son-in-law, Roger Gentry; great-grandson, Connor Tafoya; sister, Mary Jo Loving Dempsy; and her dearest and best friend, Susie Pilgrim.
