Mr. Bobby J. “B.J.” Simmons, 81, of Pittsburg was born February 27, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jonathan and Grace Boswell Simmons and passed away in Tyler on April 20, 2023.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus and was a millwright by trade. He loved to travel, seeing most of the fifty states.
Left to treasure his memory is his wife, Connie Simmons who he married February 5, 1960; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Pamela Simmons of Arlington, Texas, son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Robin Simmons of Huntsville, Arkansas; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Scotty Loftis of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Jeremy Loftis, Lydia Pruitt, Erica Goodman, Rylie Simmons, Chance Simmons, Sarah Grace Simmons, Brooks Briscoe, and Blakeley Briscoe; great grandchildren, Jackson Wright, Caden Wright, Alexis Wright, Keely Goodman, and Bryson Goodman; sister Glenda Layne of Corsicana; and he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pittsburg with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends between 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
