Bob Attaway Obituary

Mr. Bob Attaway was born April 29, 1956 in Shreveport, La. to Merle and Mildred Lee Attaway and passed away at his home on December 25, 2020.

Mr. Attaway received his high school diploma from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, LA in 1974. Graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.  Bob began his career as an electrical engineer with SWEPCO in 1979 working out of the Shreveport general office. Bob has been with SWEPCO and later AEP for over 41 years, holding several different positions and completing numerous projects across the SWEPCO region in northeast Texas, Shreveport, and larger AEP territory. Bob’s career was focused on specialized equipment and advanced technology and he managed a team of experts across Texas, Ohio, and Virginia. Bob was respected across AEP and the greater industry for his vast experience, expertise, and leadership.

He was a member of First Baptist Church Pittsburg for 29 years. Prior to this he was a member of Ford Park Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA where he attended since childhood.

Bob was known as a handy man who could fix anything. His family affectionately called him “MacGyver” because there seemed to never be a problem he couldn’t solve.  James 1:27 reads, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” Bob’s faith and servant's heart led him to use his gifts to serve those who were in need. He served his neighbors, his church, and his family well, leaving a legacy of faith to his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Hicks Attaway, wife of 41 years, son: Daniel Attaway and his wife Emily of Brownwood, Texas; Stacey Stuard and her husband Daniel of Pittsburg, Texas.;     grandchildren,  Isabella, Angelica, and Alexander Attaway and Raegan, Tyson, and Collin Stuard; brother, Thomas Attaway and his wife Lue of Shreveport, LA. Married to Lue Attaway; nieces: Jennifer Hennigan and Lisa French

He was preceded in death by his  grandparents, Arley and Ida Attaway of Fouke, AR and Lucinda Edgar of Shreveport; dad, Merle Attaway, and mom, Mildred Attaway of Shreveport.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Pittsburg, Texas to help with building and ground maintenance as Bob was a member of the Properties committee.

Graveside services are scheduled for 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Macedonia Cemetery in Pittsburg, Texas.  Due to Covid concerns we ask that social distancing and masks is adhered to when necessary.
