Billy Rex Minchew, 77, of Leesburg, Texas was born August 16, 1945 in Pittsburg to Emmitt Olvis “Bill” Minchew and Bennie Francis McClendon Minchew and passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 in Pittsburg.
He was retired from the United States Air Force where he earned and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal which is one of the highest medals awarded in the Air Force, member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He also worked many years in poultry equipment sales.
Mr. Minchew is survived by his wife Zella Minchew of Leesburg; son, Chris Minchew and wife Betty Sue of Gilmer; 3 grandchildren, Jeromy Rater, Holly Ziegler, and Travis Minchew; great-grandchildren, Clayton Rater, Caseyn Rater, and Abby Ziegler.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda O’Quinn, great-grandson, Colton Rater.
Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 26, 2022 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Leesburg Cemetery. There will be a visitation Sunday from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Services will be officiated by Bro. Larry Glosup and pallbearers will be Randy Stevens, Hubert Davis, Billy Taylor, Phillip Seay, Jimmy Sampley, and Jimmy Fagg. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Poe, Blake Hayden, and Chuck Bishop.
