Funeral services for Beverly M. Schechter, 86, of Tyler (formerly of Pittsburg) will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Camp County. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. She passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at UT Health East Texas Hospital in Jacksonville.
Beverly was born on July 26, 1936, in Redstone Township, PA to William Joseph and Sara Elizabeth Addis Stark. She graduated from Brownsville (PA) High School in 1954 and Uniontown (PA) Nursing School in 1957. Beverly was a registered nurse in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas for a total of over 50 years, with the final years of her career in Pittsburg after moving there in 1981. Beverly lived her final 1-1/2 years at Atria Willow Park Assisted Living in Tyler. Along with nursing, Beverly enjoyed traveling, cooking (particularly her famous cheesecake), selling PartyLite products, and caring for her dogs.
Beverly was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Beverly is survived by her son, Greg Porzucek (Kim); sisters, Darlene Herbert and Sally Sampey; half-brothers, J.B. (Anita) Stark and Joe (Bobbie) Stark; and several nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents along with her husbands, Edward F. Porzucek and George Schechter.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial immediately following the service.
