Betty Miner Obituary

Betty Jane Foster Miner went to join her Lord and Savior on August 2, 2024.

Betty was born February 25, 1926, to Elsie and Albert Foster in Washington, DC.  According to her, she had a most wonderful childhood and was especially close to her grandmother who lived with her much of that time. After graduating from high school, she worked for The War Department at Walter Reed Army Base where she met James J Miner as he was exiting the service.  They were married for 65 years and moved often during their early marriage…having 4 children in 4 different states.

She loved crafting and celebrating holidays, especially Christmas.  She was a voracious reader, an avid bridge player and loved watching college and professional football and Texas Rangers baseball. She was a faithful church member and taught the 5-year-olds class for over 25 years and volunteered for Vacation Bible School into her 90’s.  In later years, she used her computer skills to create a newsletter for her adult Sunday school class.

She loved movies, Big Band music and Old Hymns but most of all loved being a wife and a mother.  She excelled at making her family feel loved and always made life fun!  She married late in life and thought she wouldn’t ever meet her grandchildren, but many holidays were spent with her 4 children, 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, James J Miner, her parents, Elsie and Albert and her close friend, Ella Mae Earp who was more like a sister than a friend.

Survived by her children, Lynn Thomas and spouse, Stan, Davey Miner, Nancy Couch and spouse, Vee Couch and Danny Miner and spouse, Jan and 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by her Goddaughter, Bonnie Beasley.

Betty has always loved Jesus and was anxious to join Him in Heaven.
